[Important Announcement] Increase in Student Activity Fee (SAF) and Fall 2024 Funding Update

Dear F&M Students,

As members of the Student Activities & Finance Committee (SAFC), we wanted to take a moment to update you on some exciting developments regarding the Student Activity Fee (SAF) for the upcoming academic year.

The SAF plays a crucial role in sustaining the diverse range of activities and opportunities available to all students. Beyond supporting Club Council-recognized organizations, the SAF also funds essential campus resources such as Student Governing Boards, the Resource Room, and supoprts the annual cost of the Ampersand.

We are pleased to inform you that due to the advocacy of Diplomatic Congress Treasurer Amanda Chin, the SAF has been increased from $76 per year to $100 for the 2024-2025 academic year. With this increased allocation, we have met nearly all budget requests from organizations that submitted proposals for the Fall 2024 semester. This accomplishment means that we can continue to support the initiatives and programming of our student body.

To improve transparency and promote the education of the budgeting process, we hosted five training sessions and sent out reminders encouraging students to submit their proposals. Through these initiatives, we have been able to improve upon our guidelines to ensure a more equitable process for all participants.
